I just replaced the tube on my Hartke HA5000 to see if it would reduce some buzzing. I replaced it with an EV 12AX7. Well, the buzzing stopped, but if I turn on my tube preamp, the speakers pop every so often. I did a search and one recommendation was that it could be a dirty socket. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It is very likely the tube making the noise. Installing a new tube would actually clean the socket somewhat. If the amp did not make the noise with the old tube, I'd try another new tube.
