New Tune

Discussion in 'Recordings [BG]' started by Bassline1414, Jun 24, 2003.

  1. This song is an all-bass tune (meaning I used my Ibanez BTB to record all basslines, chords, melodies, solos, and percussion) that I wrote between the times of 7 and 10 this morning. Some of the transitions are a little weak, but I'd like your opinions. It's a jazzy-funk sorta' tune...

    Thanks for listening!

    that's KICKING!

    I really like this. Very...oh...very...groovy!

Don't take this the wrong way...it kind of sounds like something you'd hear after winning a racing game :p

    good work!

do you have a phrase sampler? or was this all track-overdub-track-overdub....etc.?

    I love it though.

  4. Thanks, fellas.
Pathetically enough, I'd record a measure or two and loop it instead of repeating it over and over again (as this song is quite repetitive). So yeah, it was all overdubs. Thanks for listening!

    good job then.

Personally, I'm really bad at doing overdubs, unless it's with keyboards or synths or drum machines.

That's why I love my phrase sampler.
  6. I've never even heard of a phrase sampler...what does it do?

Also, I have another all-bass tune I posted on here a while back...it's very middle-eastern influenced and it's more of a rock tune. I suck at soloing/improvising though, as you'll notice in the both the solo on this song and the one posted earlier.

    Phrase samplers are awesome.

basically, they take a short phrase, and loop it back, then allow you to play over it.

Here is the Boomerang...a very popular one(for it's ease of use)

And here is the one I use, which is actually much more than just a phrase sampler and that's why I got it, becuase it is also a multieffects box, and an 8 track digital recorder...
    Digitech BNX3

there are a couple others out there...boss rc-20, and there is an older one called the jamman, I think lexicon made it...at anyrate the jamman unit it in the BNX3.
  8. I can honestly say I hate jazz, but this is some good stuff! :bassist:

    I loved it!
  10. Oddly enough, that's not the first time I've heard my music is porno-esque...
  11. Lol I've never heard porn music..is it like that Playboy Jazz CD they came out with?

Girls getting off to your bass lines... :D :bassist:

That's softcore porno music. Hardcore stuff sounds like, "Walka-walka, bow-now, chicka wah-wah..." Kind of like Bassline1414's tune.

Did I mention that I liked it, BL1414?
  13. Yes, and many thanks. Although I think this tune sounds more softcore as there are no wah-wah pedals or slap bass.

hey man that sounds really good.. Its repetitive, but its not annoying and that can be hard to do. The tone is good to. what were you recording into???
  15. Went direct into my soundcard via my DOD BassTec. You'll notice the buzz on the melodies and the solo, but other than that I thought the recording turned out pretty well.
  16. Now, I'm REALLY ashamed to put a recording of mine on TB!!! :spit:

Those two tunes are great man! Sweeeeeeet compositions! Keep up the good work!
  17. Thats some awesome stuff there man, started making me dance a little in my seat as i listened to it :D keep up the good work!!! ~ Tyler
  18. (Sorry, just got back into town.)
Thanks, man. I'm glad you listened...and don't feel afraid to post anything on TB. Getting feedback from people on here has really helped me out.
  19. cool stuff...it's hard to believe that was all done on a bass. I think it's time someone formed an all-bass band...! We could finally turn up as loud as we want...!!
  20. There's an all-bass band here in Kansas City. They had an mp3.com page up awhile ago, but I think I lost the address. Interesting, to say the least.
