Good luck. The live band scene in NYC is next to nil. The big clubs go with name acts. Most bars have DJ's or a specialty band of some sort, but expect the pay to be no more than $50 a man. Maybe you can get a gig at a hotel if you have the right repertoire and a good agent. There are approximately 100 competent bands for every venue that hires. Not trying to be a bummer -- just saying what it is. You never know.
