Has anybody tried these things? They look great. Wonder about quality, tone, weight/balance etc. These things have wooden necks. I'm not a fan of graphite necks so this really intrigues me. http://zonguitars.com/zonguitars/imports/
Why does the cheapest model have a 3-band EQ and the rest have 2-bands? And why no 6-strings? C'mon, Zon. Gimme something I can work with here.
I spoke with a retailer who has one of the Sonus Standards in stock. On a digital scale the Sonus weighed in at 9.5 lbs.
Ah, the dark color and stacked combinations of the second two threw me off. Still $^*)($%^&*^%# about the no 6-strings thing.
I dont think Ive ever seen that high list prices for import 4 string basses before. Even if street prices drops them down to $1,200 and up, is still a lot for imports. If they compare favourably to other mfg basses in the $1,500 and up range might be good choice for Zon fans.
Yah darkstorm those are expensive. I was hoping to see something in under a thousand mark. Not saying that imports arent well made, beings my only two basses are imports. Those are sweet looking..
I'm hoping somebody who has actually played one chimes in here. These things look great but how do they sound?
Depends on the model is guess. But I was looking at the Bass Central site and Skyline Laklands with the traditional J/MM pickup setup is still more than a Standard model Zon.
Lakland and Sadowsky are at least on par with the Zons if not more. I have a Lakland 55-02 and it certainly retails new for more than $1200. You can find nice 55-02 models used for around that price.
