Hi everyone here on the DB side of TalkBass. I am Nick.

Starting in September, I will learning to play double bass. I play tuba now and am pretty good (all county honors & all-state runner-up), and I also play electric bass guitar. Since I play tuba and bass guitar, I know more than most newbies. I am pretty good with theory from being good at tuba.

I am a regular poster on the BG side of Talkbass, but I've never posted on the DB side. I have looked around a lot over here, and I see that many people have great knowledge over here (not saying that the BG side doesn't). I was wondering if anyone over here can give me some pointers on the basics of DB. Any suggestions, things to do, etc...

Thanks to anyone who can help!!

    Get a good teacher.

Look up Mike Noonan (of the Unified Jazz Ensemble) and tell him that I sent you. Noonan's a dear friend and a great guy and he'll set you straight.

EMail me if you want his contact info.
