Next bass amp head?

    Hey there talkbassers

    I recently purchased my first serious rig (hartke 2500 playing thru Hartke 410xl speakers). Ill say that i am an intermediate beginner and progressing fast due to a resurgence back to bass from guitar playing.

    With that said i am already planning my next acquisition. Im looking for another head to play through my hartke 410. I care most about versatility in sound and dutability. Weight and look are not as important.

    Your next bass amp head will be up to you!
    We can only recommend something but you must try for yourself at local shops. Your best bet is to try a lot of them.

    Good start would be:
    Gallien-Krueger
    Ampeg
    Eden
    Also from what i've heard from others:
    Genz Benz
    Aguilar
    Fender

    All these heads also sound different in each cab brand and model.
    A 4x10 cab is typically different from another. Reasons could be box tuning, different drivers/speakers, tweeter & no tweeter, and ported or non-ported.

    I would suggest trying at least a Gallien-Krueger 700rb and MB500.

    Cant you help narrow it down a little for everyone here? What type of sound/band are in going for? Price range? Tube, non tube, hybrid? Dual channel? Power amp and a pre rack?

    I also agree with the above statement, GK 1001 RB or 700!!! Awesome heads! I have a 1001RB myself so maybe Im biased a tad ;)
