Cards - Panthers Ravens - Steelers Bengals - Colts Lions - Cowboys Panthers would seems to have the advantage over the Cards week QB situation - pick: Panthers Steelers are on a roll, but Flacco was impressive yesterday - pick: Steelers Bengals also playing well but advantage Colts signal-caller - pick: Colts Stafford out of sorts, Cowboys rolling - pick: Lions in the upset
The Steelers may win just because the Ravens are worse than they are. But, I can also see the Ravens showing up at Heinz Field and stomping out with a victory. I'll take the Cardinals, Colts, and Cowboys in the other games. -Mike
Cardinals, Steelers, Colts, Cowboys are who I'd like to see move on. I doubt I'll watch a single quarter though
Interesting. Not a single team I care about is playing this weekend. Teams I follow: Seahawks, Packers, and (due to proximity) Broncos. But after having lived Deepinahearta for 13 years, I can always energetically root for the Cowpokes to lose!
I detest "America's Team" and have detested them since the 1970s when they decided that they were all that and a bag of chips. I don't know if the Lions will beat them, but I sure will be rooting for the Lions. I don't see the Panthers beating the Cardinals, even with Cam Newton playing against a waterboy. The Cardinal defense won't give him any peace. The final score might be 2-0 or something, though. With all that, I'll be watching college football this weekend, not NFL games.
We know it isn't the Seahawks. Lots of people love to hate them these days. Lots of other people have jumped on the bandwagon. I'm not a Packers fan, though. It's my commie pinko side leaking out.
I don't hate (such a strong word so effortlessly thrown around), nor even dislike most of the Seahawks team or organization (some of the loud mouths could take a walk, but every team has those). What gets me are quite a lot of the fans. That's OK though, I haven't really pulled for a single team for a few years now... mostly just turn on football when I have absolutely nothing else going on and want some background noise.
Who hates the Seahawks? I see many Seahawk fans playing the "we're underdogs, we don't get any respect" role, or talking about how the Seahawks are just a band of no name guys magically winning games. I don't think either of this comments are true at all. Seahawk fans bring the angst on themselves, partly because they've been losers for so long that now that they have won something, they don't know how to act. Take a queue from one of your best offensive players, be quiet and enjoy watching your team win. When you win, smile, yell, cheer, and then move on to the next game. People won't like you, get used to it. That happens you're the champs. Don't let other fans jealousy rob you of your joy. -Mike
As for this America's Team debate, Dallas was clever and picked up on it first. You can break this discussion down into other labels as well. Who really is the 12th man? Seattle fans think they are, but I guarantee you there are fans in Kansas City and Green Bay who would debate that with Seattle fans on even ground. I like this comment when Art Rooney (former Pittsburgh Steelers owner) was asked about being America's Team: 'We didn't want that. We're Pittsburgh's team. We feel strongly about that.' -Mike
You have a point. Seattle has been a hotbed of less than mediocrity for a long time. It's almost like what would happen if the Browns or Indians won a championship.
Yeah, imagine Cleveland. On Thursday, it will mark 50 years since they won a championship in any major sport. -Mike
Plus, I don't know how anybody could argue that the Seahawks are not established stars. They are getting paychecks that reflect winning a championship.
Suh got what he deserved...a suspension. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12093617/ndamukong-suh-detroit-lions-suspended-playoff-game
Glad to see that suspension. The more I thought about that, the more I believed it was another of his "Oops, I did it accidentally on purpose" moves.
I thought Coach Caldwell was brought in to install discipline to the Lions?? Instead, the talk of the team now is how to get Suh an appeal, so he can play this coming Sunday. WTH?? Having said that, I am going with the boys schmacking down the Detroit Liers, in the big D. Dallas 28 Detroit 21
That's as should be. That kind of play makes it hard to like the Lions. That kind of thing seems to "accidentally happen" to them a lot. Ravens/Steelers - Steelers. Hate the Ravens. Colts/Bengals - Flip a coin. Like them both, but either both can be really good or fail to show up out of the blue. Probably will be Colts, because Bengals' receiving corp is depleted. Would love to see Cincy get off the playoff schnied, though. Cowboys/Lions - Cowboys. I used to hate them, but I have to like Murray and what they've done this year. Cards/Panthers - Don't care. Neither has earned a right to go further.
I wouldn't exactly call myself a Cleveland Browns fan, but it sure is a bummer watching them have to deal with that joker Manziel. Part of me thinks they deserve it since it wasn't like nobody knew what they'd end up with when they drafted him. -Mike
