After much debating, I went with the Samick Fairlane 4 string. This is a Greg Benett design series. I have two weeks to return it if I don't like it in any way. I have been trying a lot of low-to-mid range basses and I think this one is one of the better ones I have tried. I like the fit and finish and the neck feels just about perfect. The tone is great and I honestly don't see a need to upgrade anything. I tried most of the Squire series, including the CV and VM models. I also tried Epis, ibanez, Schecter, etc. The closest was the LTD B204 with EMG pickups. But, used, it was $100 more.

So, I got the sunburst model for $150 new OTD and so far I'm really enjoying it. It's really light weight and the instrument is well balanced. They threw in a setup as well.

    I'll post a pic soon.
