Probably spelled his name wrong, but he's the bassist from Queens of the Stoneage! I haven't seen any threads on him yet so I thought I'd start one. His sound is reminiscent of Jack Bruce's with Cream. He uses a pick and a Fender Precision and it sounds awesome. I urge everybody to check them out!
When I saw 'em he was using a Jazz bass. He was beating the hell out of it... it did sound great! Check out the early Kyuss records too... some great bass lines on Blues For The Red Sun.
Kyuss rules. The new Queens record is supposed to be HEAVY, and Dave Grohl is playing drums on it. Nick is a madman, not to be messed with. Nick didn't try out for Tool, Scott Reeder did. He was the Kyuss bassist after Nick, and is now in Unida.
i like a lot NIck and QOTSA i have seen them live three times and he was always using a Squier P white. i love the way his bass sound. with my band i have a sound quite similar to Nick's. he kicks!!
I have to add my name to the Nick Olivieri Appreciation thread, cos he has some kick ass basslines, especially for Kyuss, I thought, but he's still good with QOTSA.
