dont think i spelled that properly,is it just me or is she a pretty mediocre bassist, and why are bassists in indie bands usually lame?
I have no idea who you are talking about... but most bands are fronted by a singer and EVERYONE else is there to support them in the song. Sometimes mediocrity is actually foundation.
on that note, she plays for silversun pickups, she has a white p a burst tbird and an all white tbird, all stock, its very dissapointing
I don't why, but Nikki's playing strikes a chord in me that I don't usually get from what players similar to her. I dig the pick tone, and she does have some cool albeit simple bass lines, Well Thought Out Twinkles, Waste It On , Little Lover's So Polite, Catch & Release, Panic Switch, ect. Cool little melody she plays with the keyboardist during the guitar solo in Lazy Eye. She's not the best, and her technique when they were first start playing was akin to Kim Deal in a not so good way. Nikki's technique has improved a little bit though. In sea of bassists, many would call her mediocre, but I enjoy her stuff none the less. Although among the indie bands, your best bet when I think of bassists from that scene is probably the bassists of Modest Mouse and The New Pornographers.
My buddy just turned me on to them this past Saturday... I like the lines of hers I've heard (just watched the videos on their website). http://www.silversunpickups.com/medias/ What's wrong with stock P and tbirds???? Those are 2 of the classic basses used as is for DECADES!!!!
when I think of bassists from that scene is probably the bassists of Modest Mouse and The New Pornographers id have to agree with the mm thing, and im not sure its fun improving on ideas for me
