He grabs it with his pinky to anchor his right hand near the bridge.

  3. yep thats what it is

  4. "Next to the bridge is a custom Nikki Sixx-designed “Opti-Grab” bracket that he uses to hold the bass while roaming the monster Crue stage."

    Read the features list.

    its a panty catcher!

  6. "feature" is sort of a loose term for that.

It's something to try and distract you and keep you from realizing what a hideous looking bass it is...

You all need to go watch Steve Martin in 'The Jerk'.

  10. I think it's a really nice looking bass, apart from the inlays

    It's an "Opti-grab"
    I'd ignore it

    Dude.........Get a life!

Not like we're slagging on any your fugly stuff.

Read the forum rules about posting.

  12. so wait, "Legendary Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx is known as much for his superior playing ability"

Did I miss something? I can't name a single Motley Cru song that has his bass audible.

  13. Hi.

    Yep, Opti-grab.

While a lot can be said about the hard-rock, heavy-metal, hair-metal etc. bassist and their skill or more importantly lack of it, my wild guess would be that they've inspired a lot more kids to seriously pick up bass than Jacko, Kaye, Squire, etc. ever will.

This thread is incomplete with just a mention, a pic is in order ;).

    I was JOKING!!!

Lose the chip...and I wasn't "slagging" on anyone's "fugly" stuff in particular...don't recall the OP saying he owned it. So, I think the life is probably on order for you...made specially with a sense of humor this time. :D

  15. Hi.

Well You did a helluva good job hiding it :meh:.

Even with the smiley, I for one don't think much about Your sense of humor. It's a one thing critizising an instrument, entirely different one critizising someone when they make a perfectly valid point.

BTW, from what I've seen, TBird1958 has a pretty good life :bassist:.

What´s with the "X"´s on the fretboard and pickguard? Has Sixx gone straight-edge?:D

I do happen to own it...........
I also know enough about common courtesy that if someone here has a bass that may not be my cup of tea I can just not say anything about it and let them enjoy it, after all it's their bass...........Get it?

Heh, sweet basses, except for the lack of pickup selection, but thats an easy mod.

As for the Opti Grab, suppose you could hand some keychains from it!:D

Just from an outsiders point of view (I don't play gibson or listen to MC), but for the uninitiated the whole "grabber" piece behind the bridge looks like an excellent place to run your cable through to the jack (that is if you run it through the strap to prevent it from getting yanked out from time to time).

my $.02 on something that may be quite useful. :bassist:

Actually it simplfies things in a live setting I just work the tone knob a little.....Dime the volume, less wiring gives your pick ups a bit higher output.
