I haven't dabbled much here in the Effects forum since setting up my Funk board. I'm a "got it, it works, done" kind of guy.

But I've gotten inspired to do some more looping, and adding a nice lush reverb for my fretless seems like a lovely thing to do.
So I just ordered one of Taylor's Nimbus pedals. They get a lot of love here, and I've loved everything of his that I've played through - my Oxide is a full time board member, and has gotten some great comments from engineers and producers.

So - I may be late getting on the train, but I think I'm setting myself up for a nice ride.

I don't know; there was that one time where, in a fever, we came out with that formant filter designed to make your bass sound like Justin Bieber (The Bieb Machine, we called it). In hindsight, that was probably a misstep for us, and I would not recommend that anybody buy it if you see one come up for sale (unless you're a collector).

That explains why, at extreme settings, my Xerograph DLX will occasionally mutter "Baby, Baby, Baby, ooooh!" - must be some leftover code?

oof. i'm sorry man. that's just awful.

Kessle Cakes - if it means anything, i don't like reverb at all on bass. and i kinda adore my Nimbus. mad versatile.

Jean- ouch indeed. Glad you're OK. Cars can be replaced.

Behndy-san - in this world, your word means much. And yeah, in general I'm not a fan, but I can definitely hear it for adding textures to loops, and for some of the fretless solo work that I'm doing.

i like it a lot for mellower tapped parts (don't feel at ALL silly talking about tapping with THAT ****ING GUY in the thread. really. AT ALL.), and i use it a LOT for dirt or fuzz going into it to make all that BIGGAH. sort of like a boost, eq and widener at the same time.

    DELICIOUS.

For me the real decision was in the realization that I could watch the TB classifieds like a hawk to snatch one up when it shows up (or miss it), for for a few $ extra I could just order a new one from Taylor and support a great pedal maker directly.

As soon as I put it in that perspective it was a no-brainer.

totally. i had trade bait and feelers out for i think 6 days before i remembered how i'd WAY rather support a smaller builder than save like $15.

plus, i'm an IMPATIENT little grrL.

If memory serves, while I can't speak to your patience, you totally fail on both "little" and "grrl".

I'm not sure that's the right look for you - too pastel. And we still haven't dealt with the "little" part. But it's all OK. Slather a little more Nimbus reverb on it and everyone will love it.
