Pick guard is not original. Origials were single ply white made from some strange plastic which oxidized metal parts, killing pickup and pots over the time etc. Your one is 3-ply white/black/white. I think no original one is present to this day on telecaster basses 68-71. Yours may be factory replacementt (1970s) or current production reissue.

They did different material on humbucker equipped post 72 tele basses. Great price even with non original pg.

This one is 3 ply white/black/pearloid. I've seen it and believe that it's the original. They don't always disintegrate and destroy the electronics. If it was being regularly used and not just kept in the case it can outgas safely.

I purchased this from the original owner who gigged with it since new. I’ve posted everything I know about it based from his information.

I’m not certain one can honestly state no originals are still around. I have a friend who has a 1968 in more “player” condition who still has the original pick guard and it’s exactly the same. There are several for sale for much more money if you are concerned with its authenticity. Thank you for your input.
