Awesome, good to hear! How does it sound using the guitar settings?

I use the amp in my practice room. I use it for acoustic and electric guitars as well as basses. It is a great modeling amp, but the acoustic and bass amps are a bit of a compromise, given the speaker, cabinet design and lack of tweeter (for acoustic mostly.) I tried a couple different speakers in it, but went back to the stock speaker.

I wouldn't try to gig with it. For bass, it is a practice amp.

I've got a Peavey Vypyr VIP 3 which is the 100 watt version of the Vypyr amp which is nominally for electric, acoustic, and bass guitar. It's not too bad an electric amp (and the power sink knob is very nice), it's "meh" as an acoustic amp, and it's pretty much useless as a bass amp. What's not on the menu is that it's not half bad as a keyboard amp under low volume conditions and works surprisingly well as an amp for acoustic/electric violin and mandolin. Like all modelling amps for guitar, I find all the effects a bit sizzly and processed-sounding. It doesn't get off the shelf much.

Thanks. Yep, it's for the bedroom and probably using headphones most the time. I also play guitar so this saves me from buying multiple amps. I'm not sure who would buy a 40 watt combo modeling amp to gig with haha.

Despite your presumptions, I actually did take a few minutes to read the manufacturer's marketing hype and manual before I posted -- I understand the physics involved in reproducing bass frequencies, so I'm not going to be swayed by their hyperbolic verbiage.

Fair enough, your comment simply said "bass knob". I hadn't had coffee yet this morning...

I have not tested the new Vypyr X modelers yet since the first unit I bought (the 100w model) ended up being a dud but I do have experience with the previous Vypyr VIP series.

I remember for the longest time unknowingly running my bass through the amp set to the guitar channel and really liking the "classic" setting for my Schecter bass and Rickenbacker 4003. Of course, I mainly used it at low volume or with headphones so I never experienced the downsides of the amp as a bass combo. It seemed like a neat tool for messing around and recording ideas with all the options on board.

I'm trying my luck ordering a Vypyr X2 since the wait times on the X3 are a bit much and I have a hunch the extra $100 for beefier features will never get utilized.
