just a quick question, but I heard from my local music shop that Fender is discontinuing the Butterscotch Blonde finish on the American series basses. Is this true? He said it was due to lack of sales or something. Thanks!
maybe... I just saw a heavily discounted Butterscotch Blonde P-bass, brand new. When I asked why, the sales rep said, we're trying to get rid of it...
were these at guitar center by chance? I know when guitar center decides to discontinue something its cause of lack of sales, but I doubt the same response is felt by Fender themselves. I know the Blonde Highway One Strats are discontinued at GC but not by Fender
Is this guy's bass Butterscotch Blonde? http://youtube.com/profile_videos?user=Fran666&p=r It looks baby poop yellow in his vids. If that's Butterscotch Blonde and that's what it looks like in person then I can see why it wouldn't be a big seller.
Yep, that's the one. Just like mine except mine is rosewood. It looks much less like baby poop in person.
Yeah GC Manhattan. I've seen pics of it and have been turned off, but its truly an awesome finish in person.
Yeah, I have a BB American fender and in person the finish is absolutly stricking. Sad to see that finish go.
Yeah, mine's a P-bass, BB with a rosewood board...... I didn't talk to GC, it's actually a "small" local store that carries a lot of higher-end stuff (Lakland, Warwick, 2 Sadowsky's, other good stuff) I was asking why he was selling the blonde basses at a lower price than the other finishes, and he said they had to go because Fender was discontinuing it. I was just seeing if this was true or not..........
Thank goodness. Aweful color. Used to own one. I got it discounted from GC - out the door for around $600. Mine was not very impressive tone-wise either... Why the heck does Corona put a route all the way from the pickup to the control cavity? My USA Jazz 5 is like that, too. It's really a shame! Sorry. Back on topic...
Theres an MIA P-bass in that color that has been hanging on the wall for months at my GC. It is pretty ugly.
Personally, I don't think it IS ugly. I like the Butterscotch finish. I prefer a black p/g on them; but tort would probably look pretty good as well. Funny how everybody has different tastes. I remember years ago buying a Vintage White Jazz Bass. I really liked that color, but the salesman said that people either love it or despise it. Rarely any middle ground.
mine is an 07 MIA DLX jazz and its butterscotch blonde ordered it from the Guitar Center in Country Club Hills, IL in sept. got it in Oct.
I'm a fan of Butterscotch Blonde. My roomate has a Butterscotch Blonde Jazz with a black pickguard and rosewood fretboard, and I think it's gorgeous. If it had a tortoise pickguard like the one above, it would probably go conveniently "missing" when he moves out
I have a 2006 MIA P-bass in the Butterscotch Blonde finish with a black pickguard. It was the one P-bass that really stood out for me on the local GC wall. As much as I do like the color, I still like natural with a tort pickguard the best. Maybe Fender will reintroduce a natural finish MIA P-bass?
Ask and you shall receive. I love this color combination, with the maple neck of course. Sorry the image is so weak. I did it in a hurry.
