Been divorced for over a year now
Best thing to ever happen to me
I can now buy a guitar and bass gear to my hearts content
And that’s besides all the nagging I used to get
    I’m a happy musician

My wife thoroughly supports my music endeavours. In so far as that she bought the bass in my avatar, a Dingwall Prima Artist, for me. She's always very supportive and just as excited about things as I am.

Do you know why divorce is so expensive?

    Because it's worth it.

Enjoy your new lease on life!

  4. Have fun and find yourself and find your sound along the way. Hopefully the next one appreciates the same things you appreciate and is more supporting.

1st wife - just like your situation.
2nd wife - I wouldn't be playing live music if it were not for her. But we've been close to divorce a couple of times in 20 years.
    Congratulations on getting out.

  7. I'd hope that music gear wasn't the only reason for the divorce, but congrats on the new lease on life if it works for you.

Glad to have never been close to divorce in 31+ years.

If your wife wasn't supportive of your interests, then it was prob for the best.

I know everyone has their own experience with being married, but man, these wife-bashing threads are exhausting. I guess I found a good one - she doesn't care what I do or buy as long as it's not financially irresponsible.

  10. I've been with my wife since 1981...:woot:

Still waiting to have our first fight. Just the occasional eye roll is all she does. Boring, huh?

Not just the wife-bashing, but the various threads about how to sneak around, buy gear, etc.

My wife supports me 100% and even encourages me satisfying occasional bouts of gas with a purchase. In fact, she's so in to it, I bought her a Mustang bass. She's very proud of her Fender.
    Best wife ever!

All the best OP ! My wife collects book, it's like a library in my house . I collect basses , it's like a library inside a music store with 2 cats that "manage" things lol

My wife and I have had our ups and downs during the past 24 years. She was supportive of me gigging until our second kid was born. Now that all three of our kids are graduated high school she is back supporting me playing music. Not gigging was not a big deal during the kid raising years, I was an involved dad and probably would have stopped/paused on my own anyway. She got me a nice new bass for making it to 50, suggested we hit an open mic night tonight and supports me going audition for a band next week.

I’m 37. Around 30 everyone started getting married. Now half of them are divorced. They’re the happier half. Congratulations.

Without commentary, my bass count went from two to seven in that situation.

Glad you're in a better place, but we'd still like to see some photos - of the hearts content bass that is:) You know the rules, gotta have a photo or it didn't happen.

I played my last gig in 2001. Left the band and gave up playing to concentrate on our relationship and get married. Well, we are still together and never tied the knot.
just started playing again during the shutdown
