No Respect

i just need to vent....hope you don't mind

it's been my experience that no one gives bass respect. not just me as an individual, but bass playing on a whole. in my town, EVERYONE playes guitar, bass or drums and is into like punk and hardcore rock...i'm very different. i like jazz and classic rock. i'm not trying to bust on musical interests here, i'm here because of the little respect my art is getting. everyone (i've found it mostly to be guitarists) is always saying how dumb bass is, how easy it is, and how anyone could play it. they make it sound as though they hate bass. but then if there is a bass sitting around, the same people are on it like a swarm of flies on a horses ass. all they ever want to to is play me bass...why?

why do people love to play bass if it is so "stupid"
why don't bassists get respect as musicians?
why do poeple jump to conclusions that bass it the easiest intrument there is?

i don't think that everyone can play bass, i think it requires groove, which all of these guys don't have in the least bit.
