NOBD First bass for my granddaughter

I just thought I'd show you a little project for my granddaughter. She is 14 and is taking bass lessons at school. So what better reason to buy another bass. I found this on CL and bought it for $20, - plays good looks rough. She came over last weekend and we took it apart, cleaned & polished everything, a couple of new knobs and painted the pick guard. We had alot of fun working together so I told her I'd post this here so everyone could see her "new" Squier P Bass.

Whoa nice job!

I'm sure it will be a great memory for both of you. I know me and my grandfather built a wooden car when I was 7. I can remember every moment from that experience. I still have that wooden car.

Good on you!

Thanks Guys !

She took it to school Monday and called me as soon as she got home to tell me she got some extra time with her instructor !

I was thinking the same thing.

Not particularly, more of just a coincidence ! :D

I've had a few cars that were that color combo and thought it would look good, luckly she agreed !

NNS,

Well done! Working with your granddaughter to disassemble, reassemble, and mod it is a nice touch. Kids tend to be more interested in things they get involved in at that deep a level.

I've done similar with my son (who just turned 12 today). Ironically, his first "real" bass was a black P frankenbass. I say "real" because he's had a Fernandes Nomad bass for a few years now.

Keep up the good work, NNS!

Peace,

James
