    I have a client who's Fender P has a constant severe hum.
We were using my Genz Shuttle 6.0 for the input drive into a mic'ed ampeg 115.

My Ibanez sr is dead silent. I mean zero noise.

I'd like to help him trouble shoot it but know nothing about the P. I'm assuming a bad ground or poor shielding.

Is it a split-coil P or a single coil? If it is a single coil, it may just be getting 60hz noise which is to be expected with a lone single coil.

If the noise stops when you touch metal/strings/bridge on the bass, then it is RF interference and the bass needs shielding. If the noise gets louder, it is a bad ground.

As always, double check the ground wire connection at the bridge.

It's a split p. You've given me enough to go on. Thanks.
