Did gibson ever reissue NR T birds? if so what years?
to any NR owners in what other ways than the obvious asthetics do they differ from the normal Tbirds?
whats the balance like VS standard tbirds?

    pics..show em. original or RI

None that I am aware of. Epiphone reissued both a 4 and 5 string non reverse. Not sure what year they came out. I'm sure Tbird58 will chime in at some point.

BaCH is making a reissue clone that is really nice and really reasonably priced.

The tbird was reissued in the mid 70's but there is no NR RI. If you have a Gibson NR, it's from the 60's.

not too shabby but id say that ones still got a while before its hatches and gets in the dirt with the Gibsons. something is just "off" with it to me

    Original Gibsons- Made from 65-69
First they are set neck, slab body, so they do not have as much sustain as the neck through reverse, not that they lack sustain either.

They are a bit neck heavy, but a bit better then the reverse. Have better upper fret access. Sound much the same as the reverse.

    Mine is a 67

Here is another thread about them- For about $400 US shipped (from Europe), you can't beat it.

Most guys have bought the real chrome T bird covers from GreatDealz on Ebay- old unused 70 Tbird covers stash and stuffing them with the BaCH ones.

thanks for the info. very helpful. im surprised that it seems like Gibson has not reissued these. they look incredible and yours is an amazing example. im not too much for cherry red on these but when you wrap your head around the fact you have a 45 year old bass that still looks that smokin hot and fresh you just HAVE to appreciate that!

NRs are set neck not neck through like the '63-'65s, the necks are one piece mahogany. They have slab mahogany bodies that are quite thin 1 1/4" inches. They have much better access to the upper register than the reverse birds. Gibson never made a reissue NR. The Epis from the '90s have more in common with a Fender than a Gibson. I have been playing NRs almost exclusively since '78. I own one Bach and have another on they way. The basses really nail the NR vibe for a very attractive price. They are great stock but lots of guys put repro Thunderbird pickups in them (Seymour Duncan or Mike Lull) Many put correct repro guards on them but truth be told they are fine stock. If and thats a big if Gibson ever made a reissue NR it would be 4-5K Minimum. Anyway here is my flock. Thunderbirdfamily2010002.jpg

oh my!!! what an array..im pretty much in awe of you because i really prefer the look of the NRs. id imagine it took quite a few years to aquire that harem..i rarely find one let alone that many. great taste!

i realize gobson would gouge on a current RI of these and im just bummed they never have before. all this NR love stems for a deep deep love over Mike Watt's Pelham Blue NR. even though its thrashed its still pretty much the most exciting bass ive ever seen

I'd echo Scott's comments about BaCH's I have one and love it - an incredible value for the money. Mine has a Lull pup, costom PG, TRC and a Gibson bridge cover added and for all intent is as good as a '60s one because it's made the same way. It does not balance well compared to my Reverse 'Birds tho playing is not a chore. I too have a second one on the way to me and am quite excited.
Also I'd say it's due to great effort from several people on our Gibson forum that made this bass possible, they did a great job!
