I bought one a couple years back for $600... Seems like a pretty standard used price.

  4. Yeah, I was able to grab a Thumb for $600 a few months back.

That said, I'd look at that as a pretty nice deal...maybe not exceptional, but good enough that I'd have to go take a look at it before it got away. :)

i've only seen such a drop in price in warwicks then..

    M.F. lists a Corvette Standard 5 string at $1679, (MSRP is $2040)

To shave more than a 1000 from the price is reasonable?

I mean, you can go buy a Std am fender for 1100 and a couple year later, get ALL of it back

Hey its not like when someone lowballed me for a NT Thumb for $1000 and told me that he could fine tons of them for 1k

I ended up selling it for $1250

one of the worst mistakes of my life

  8. damn i want to buy a used warwick now if they are that cheap!!!

  9. Aye...was very very happy about it. It had a bit of mojo where the prior owner rested his thumb, but otherwise it needed very little TLC...a little fret cleaning, a nice coat of wax, and a few days of setting it up to where I was happy with it.

It will sound less punchy, but probably will still have the wick growl..

I'm still totally confused about it

im not too sure if its the same in the US but i have found that warwicks resale price has dropped considerably in the last few years.

    Are thumbs > corvettes?

  14. '98 with a Wenge neck. :)

Generally speaking, Yes...but the Thumb is an odd beast, they sound incredible, yet many people are uncomfortable with the way they play.

Different, yes. More expensive, yes. Better, IMHO, no.

Used Warwicks have never been more affordable.

I scored all three of my Warwicks used and in totally mint condition, and the prices were generally pretty fair:

    '95 Fortress One 5-string: $900
'96 Fortress Flashback 4-string: $550 (killer deal, IMO)
    '97 Thumb BO 5-string: $1100

I got a good deal on the Flashback mainly because the guy had no idea what it was, and he hated it because "it was heavy and ugly." The other two were a little steep; however, all three basses were totally scratchless, well-maintained, and had all-wenge necks, so I saw them as good buys :)

Lol, he just raised it to 800. That makes a little more sense. But ill pull an "I saw your previous price".
