Nordstrand Big Man Pickup in an MTD Fretless

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Jetrider79, May 11, 2018.

  1. Been awhile TBers! Hope all is well

Did a lil live recording yesterday with a drummer friend of mine. I played my 4 String MTD Artist Fretless with the Nordstrand Big Man pickup. It was a killer time, and this pickup has a killer tone. With flatwound strings, it definitely has a great feel and sound. There are few choice parts at 6mins; 9:45 & 12:30 min mark. Just a little improv jazz fusion (sort of), I swear some of the parts sound like RUSH...

    Check it out:

Yours sounds great, but I'm biased as I also have one in the 'Ray position. :D

Another discussion on it as well: Nordy Bigman4?

  3. Thanks so much checking it out. So many configurations, tweeks, and ways to make a particular sound. Depending on the day, I'm still working on it. Especially for a fretless

This guy was kinda hidden when I was putting a pair of BM's in my $$4.

I like the trombone-y vibe I'm getting off your fretless.
It's like hearing a really good player, kinda perks your ears up.

I haven't found a preamp I like with the BM's, just play it passive mostly.

I do have a Big Blademan in a drawer I've been meaning to install.

It's nice to get away from the alnico thing once in a while.
