Nordstrand MM5.2

  1. Just wondering if anyone has some experience with these? I'm thinking of getting one to replace the stock pickup in my OLP MM3.

Here's a link to the pickup. It's at the very bottom.

Would the change in over-all tone be large, or minuscule?

I have one in my MTD Heir and it's a really good pickup. Helped the string to string balance and sounds great!

    I'd say go for it!

Here is a link where the Nordstrand MM pup is tested through a variety of preamps in 3 styles; groove, slap and chords. I believe it's the 4.2 not the 5.2 that's tested, but it might give you some practical info for your decision. You can even compare it to the stock MM pup as it's tested too.

FWIW, I think they sound very fat yet growly. I'd do it.

    Hi,
i just installed a MM5.2 and an audere classic 4 premap in my imported mtd bass. Jeez..... they rules, can't top playing it! I stopped playing all my jazz basses and fell in love with the MM sound. I didn't remember how good this type of pickup can sound....

    GO for it!!!

    take care
