  1. i've been learning how to read notation for about 3 weeks now. when i get a piece of music to play, i can't "just play it"(play the piece the first time with few mistakes) i have to practice with it for awhile. Is this normal?

yep. developing sight reading is a long-time endeavor.
  3. Substitute "life" for "long", and you make it a more accurate statement ;).

Mildly Unintelligent one, don't let it scare you, you'll get there if you stick with it, and it's more than worth the effort, I promise :D.
  4. just keep on reading.. :) like they said it takes long time to develop sight reading.. I´ve been learning notation since I was 5 and I can sight read pretty much everything... the real trick is just to look at what #´s and b´s there are. then take a quick look at the song and play it really slow... and then speed up the tempo as you can play it better.. :)

    keep on reading...
  5. i hate you all

    About sightreading....

The more you do it...the easier it becomes. It Does take time...and that is one thing, that a lot of players do NOT want to invest in these days.
Anyway....just keep at it, because it is WELL worth the effort.:)
