Not a huge deal, but I thought i'd share what I know bout this one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2541745537&category=10171 I owned this cabinet for one short week - purchased from a former Aguilar dealer in OR, and in the short trip from OR to WA, UPS completely TRASHED this cab. They must have dropped it off the dock at least twice, because two of the corners are completely crushed. Here's a detail of the damage: the top left corner is slightly crushed, enough to where you can wiggle the panel with your hand. The bottom left corner is completely missing the corner guard (thanks to UPS) and is crushed bad enough to expose some wood and make that corner loose too. http://www.vanselus.com/upsclaim/ here's the pictures that I took of the cabinet when I received it. When the cab left my possession, it played fine. Of course, when you completely crush two corners of 3/4" plywood, you can't really be sure what's wrong. The happy news is that I got a brand new 410 out of the deal - UPS made good on the insurance. Shocking, I know. That's it - just so no TB bassists get screwed.
Crap...this makes me even more uneasy than I've already been. I have a Mesa Bass 400+ coming my way via UPS, and I just so friggin' hope it found gentle handlers along the way. Right now it's sitting in a UPS warehouse 25 miles away...I've got to wait till Monday to receive it.
You'll probably be ok. I've shipped a LOT lately with the whole basstasters thing, and that was the only casualty. It didn't have the best packing job either - the shipper didn't protect the corners at all - no padding, just carboard. Go figure.
Thanks Vanselus. I've got a bid on this cab already, for a second 4x10 to match my existing one. I'm a little distrubed that you say there is damage to two corners, while the ad says damage to one. I'd prefer to pass on this one. Really, really appreciate the heads-up.
OOOh, don't ever buy from a seller with a feedback count of 6666! Sign of the Devil! I also had a bad experience with a UPS-shipped Ebay cab. The Acme B2 was listed as "mint", but arrived with a cracked corner protector and a bad fuse/bulb. The cab was shipped in the original box with styrofoam corner padding. The other corner protectors were scarred too, so I suspect that the seller wasn't honest about "mint condition", but he insisted that it was mishandled by UPS. I'll never know for sure. Luckily, Andy Lewis at Acme sent me new corner protectors at no charge, and the automotive bulb was easily replaced.
WOW! They got $500 for that???? I was thinking that if the Epi T-310 works for me I might sell my GS-410. I was trying to figure what would be a fair price for one that is mint with an original box that's not beat up. So they just wholesale them out, huh?
Man, I went to the web site of the seller. It's like a salvage/overstock company! I guess after UPS settles claims they sell the goods to a company like this. I'm figuring that the salvage company would never tell the truth about the damage. Who would buy the stuff then? I like where it says "unplayed". Yeah, but not "undamaged"!
Did you miss the part that said "This cabinet has a cosmetic flaw that does affect the integrity of the cabinet. It is on the upper left corner, please see the pictures."? Or am I not understanding you?
Believe me, this cab isn't unplayed either. Although I did take real good care of it (albeit after UPS completely kicked the **** out of it) although... you know selling it on ebay is not a bad thing - its sure better than having everything UPS breaks end up in a landfill. Those fills would be full in no time the seller should have been more forthright though, better pictures and the like. I even emailed them and told them that the cabinet was NOT unplayed, that I had played it myself. Guess they didn't care...
