Yesterday my hubby just received his notice of early retirement, one of the 450,000 folks who have lost work since Sept 11. But, oddly enough he is very happy and excited to search for new adventures.

So, to honor this auspicious occasion, the start of a new phase of our lives, I have decided it is time to set aside the metal head image and change my name Jason Olsted to Boplicity, which more accurately reflects my tastes. now...maybe a contagion I "caught" here at TalkBass.

Oh, I'll always be a metal head at heart, but it is time to move on. But I remain the "recordings" co-moderator--Boplicity (AKA Jason Oldsted).

  6. Very cool, Ja----, er, bop!

Congrats to your mister! One door closes and another opens.

But in my heart, you'll always be "Ms. Oldstead," metal mama!

Ms. Oldstead. Metal Mama...I just love that!
Maybe I should have used that rather than Boplicity. Oh well, maybe after a year or so if I get a hankering to change again, I'll use that Metal Mama. :D

Funkster, glad you like the avatar. I am very attached to it and owe it to Xavier G who found it and set it up for me. Afterall, I look like just like the farm lady in the painting. ;)

Glad to see we've drawn another person over to Jazz! ;)

At first I was just looking at it, as music I would be happy to play well into my retirement; but now I listen to very little else but Jazz!

I am looking forward to early retirement - in about 10 years I would qualify for full pension payments - a lot of people do this round here and then go on the full-time Jazz course at the local college (Chichester)! That would be my preferred "new adventure"! :D

  10. As long as you keep your Avatar I won't forget who you are Metal MaMa.

To GruffPuppy, the avatar is safe. It is so ME!!:D

To Bruce, I love your idea of studying jazz after you retire. Once Hubby decides what he is going to do with his new leisure lifestyle, I would love to do exactly that. Even though I don't have any desire to play gigs, I sincerely believe challenging studies of music prolong the life of one's brain. (Not kidding this time.)

Plus it would be very enjoyable to be around other musicians and like minded folks who enjoy music and have a similar objective.
