Novice wants new preamp for delightful Squier VM Jaguar

    Looking to replace the preamp as the bass boost thingy just makes tone muddy. I was a Spectorphile pre-Korg, so pretty sure I want EMG. I replaced the stock bridge with an entry level Babicz bridge (awesome!), but prefer to leave the electronics to a tech (surprised I didn't break out in hives changing the bridge! Me and tools usually don't get along well). This whole mod thing is somewhat new to me. But I DO know it's passive. Any insights you fine folks here on the forum can give me would be appreciated. P.S. 1st choice; all EMG. 2nd choice, all Seymour Duncan. Thanks so much!

    EMG can be installed solderless if you go with all EMG. Buy EMG pickups and either the two or three band EQ, making sure that you get it with four knob configuration.
