Novy is the bassplayer from Polisch Deathmetal band Behemoth, maybe you are familiar with them, probably you're not, but that's not the point.
Novy seems to have developed a technique to slap with a pick on his tumb or something like that, and he seems to use it a great speeds too...I was wondering if any of you are familiar with this technique and could give me some information on it, because I don't get how he does it.
Here's the link to their website, so you can see some live picks on wich you can see Novy playing,

download the full concert and the video from thelema 6 antichristian phenomenon presentation
, sometimes you can see him playing, anyway, check it out and thanks in advance

Here you got an example of it. What the hell is he doing? He is slapping, but what's he doing with the pick on his thumb? I saw him live many times and he slaps his thumb a great speed ( really at great speed :bawl: )but can anyone explain? I already mailed him but he doesn't seems to be answering...

I could be wrong, but it looks like he is using a thumb-pick to me. It attaches to his thumb. That allows his fingers to be free. A lot of country guitarists play like that.

But he slaps with it, he can't slap decently unless he uses his pick to slap...

I think it's either a plastic ring or some tape, similar to what Mark King used to do - or Gerd Reese's slapring.

    Whoa, this is very cool.

So, if he DID use the pick on his thumb to slap, I'm guessing that would give a pretty cool clack slap tone. I want to see proof, before I go get the duct tape and a big pick........

Wait, open looking futher,,, the pick is on the wrong postion for slapping, it's on the other side of the thumb.

He probably uses slap and pick in the same song, so the thumb pick is just a handy thing to have.

    I dunno. Anyone else?

  7. What i find wierd is that his bass doen't seem to have a strap.. Yet he is playing standing up..

    i suppose that's a warwick buzzard?
maybe the bass is strapped around him, like a buckle or something, he seems to be wearing something like that, doesn't he?
