Now I Get It

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by PaulMacCnj, Dec 10, 2005.

  1. As I've stated on this forum before, I've been stuck between getting a 5 string bass or 4 string setup for BEAD stringing. It seems that the general consensus here is that BEAD isn't liked. The loss of the G string isn't acceptable. So, I've spent quite a bit of time in the local guitar stores playing the Spector Euro LX 5 basses. Playing one again today finally made it all click. Now I see why 5er players like these basses so much. There is so much range and you get it playing within a single position. Having a fretted low E and the low Eb down to the low B is great for playing in those keys.

Thanks to everyone here for your comments and advice. It was a big help it getting me over the whimpy feelings that I might not be able to handle a 5 string bass.
