Now that DG has to leave, who now?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by ThePaste, Jul 7, 2001.

  1. I don't know if it will help Paul (or if we even are going to get another pro), but why don't we tell who we would like as the next pro now that Dann Glenn has to leave? I just like reading what they have to say, and I can tell people that I have talked to a pro that they've heard of! I dunno that kinda excites me :D. Ok, who are your picks?

I think "Ask Ed Fuqua" has a nice ring to it, don't you?

And you have to admit, it WOULD be one of the most entertaining forums in the history of cyberspace.

After benjamintowle, I'd say Nathan East, of course.

    I few names I wouldn't mind seeing:

    Rick Turner
    Roger Sadowsky
    Abraham Laboriel
    Alphonso Johnson
    Gary Willis
    Neil Stubenhaus
    Beaver Felton
Roy Vogt (Hey, I think we found a good one I think he'd be game)
    Kai Eckhardt
  8. Hey guys, just a thought, we can ALREADY ask John Turner, Ed Fuqua, and benjamintowle questions, I was thinking along the lines of someone not currently on the forums, NOT TO SAY these guys already here aren't good.

Tech - Rick Turner or Bryan Bellar: All your gearhead questions are belong to us. Tech questions make up a hell of a lot of the current threads.

Music - Fieldy: We already have Berlin, Lawson, and Dimin as seasoned pros to tell us the proper ways. Plus, it would help the bandwidth situation by getting rid of all the Fieldy threads.

...there IS an "ASK ED FUQUA" thread somewhere here @TB; I know, 'cause I initiated it & poor ol' Ed almost fell outta his chair(I assume)when he saw it! ;)
(Then again, maybe that was at the older site, I'll have a look under "General Instruction").

BTW, Mike Dimin has a nice interview with Chuck Rainey in the newest issue of Bass Frontiers...& a cool lesson, too!
  12. I don't give too much importance to the "Pro" tag. Someone said it in another thread, and I echo the sentiment that there are many bassists within TB that qualify as sources for credible advice. Unfortunately, as a marketing tool, it makes a lot more sense to have Jeff Berlin, as opposed to Kill The Nazi - or Michael Dimin, as opposed to XavierG in the Ask A Pro section. Frankly, the information I get from the "Ask a Dumb-A$$" forums :D is just as valuable as that which I get from the "Pro" forums. The bonus is, there's a lot more humor up here!

Actually, I'm suprised, and kind of curious as to why, that bass player hasn't yanked Berlin, a la Manring.

    what about Alain Caron?
I don't think he is doing anything right now.
If you want Paul, I can contact him, and ask him.
E-mail me if you are interested.
  16. Sounds good to me. You know him personally?

not really, but I do have his phone number, I talked to him a couple of times. Montreal music scene is not really big. Everybody know each other.

what about a double bass player?
Ask Christian McBride would be cool! :)
Or someone who play both, electric or acoustic.
I also like the Idea of a luthier...
Roger or Rick would be great.
  19. How about... "Ask Ed Fuqua, if you dare" :D

Kidding Ed! Are you ready to send me that CD?
