So my mother recently purchased a vinyl cutter and I decided to go ahead and recreate one of my favorite logos of all time, the Ibanez Black Eagle. I slapped it on an aftermarket pickguard and slapped that on my walnut stained jazz bass (SX Body, Fender MIM neck, S1 Fender USA electronics). Now that it's on there, I'm not so sure I dig it. I might refinish the bass black and get the Black Eagle vibe all together (I can't afford $1300 for a real one). What do you think?

black would definately be better. but, a white re-fin would be pretty cool as well. throw on some black hardware and call it the "white eagle" or "inverted eagle".

Looks cool! I thought it was a refinned Black Eagle!

Ibanez made a few of these too, maybe I'll go for this look.

Looks good to me but it's what you think that counts.

My immediate thought is that, given the craftsmanship you put into a copy, an original design would be even cooler.

    That's an even better idea.

Refinished as a blackburst would be pretty hot imo

Honestly, the P bridge cover looks way more out of place, and the pickguard looks fine.

Heh... I was just going to say that!

Put a proper Jazz cover on it... nice job on the pickguard, just swap it out when you get tired of it.

Didn't know Ibanez did a white version... nearly bought a black one many years ago!

I mostly play P basses, so I'm used to the P ashtray, and besides, the Jazz ashtray is way to big in my opinion.

    What a shame, it's a great looking pick-guard

Thabks, Fred! I can always put it back on. Or save it for a black Jazz build.
