Double Bass NS BassCello (now OmniBass) megathread

When they first came out, you could select either a bass tuning (EADG, or BEADG) or a cello tuning (CGDA or CGDAE an octave below standard cello), and I think this was the reasoning behind the naming; it could be a bass or a "bass cello", and I guess they wanted to appeal to both cellists and bassists. After a while, it seems they realized that people were confused by the naming, and so they changed it to the "omni bass".

Yes, I think they are the best option for this scale length, at the moment. There were supposed to be some "traditional" strings from Pyramid as well, but they have been out of stock for a long time now at Gollihur: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Maybe @Mark Gollihur could have some more info on those?

That makes a lot of sense. I think they also used to tune it FCGDA. So low cello tuning.

I agree just suggesting where the original name was born out of. It's a great little instrument no matter what they call it.

Yes, I think I will like it. Especially for bowing. Now it's just a matter of trying one out and probably buying one. I am on the lookout for a Omni CR4M already. :) They are not sure easy to find though especially not used). You see a lot more full scales for sale.

They're from Lenzner, actually, and we had some measurement issues with the last sets that were sent to me, so I'm still working with them to fix that.

Bad piezo?
I've got a buzzing distortion on the arco piezo on my Omni. (Checked batteries, isolated the issue to the arco piezo only.) Could it be something else? is the piezo bad and need replacing? Can this be done my me, or do I need to send it back to NS?
This is totally new for me, anyone have any experience here?
