Hey, i just restrung my Rickenbacker, and the A string doesn't sit in the nut. The D didn't at first, but it's in there now. I was just wonerdering if it was bad for the nut. The String just sits a little bit above, it just doesn't go all the way down like the others. These strings are kinda temporary, (god i hate GHS strings...) so i was just wondering. Please help. i think until i get an answer i'm going to take the pressure off the A and just tune it down.

    thanks,
    Scott

  2. It sounds like the new set is a larger gauge than the set you replaced and the string won't fit into the nut slot.

Yes,i know that, i just need to know if its bad for the nut.

    Thanks.

  4. Yup, it's bad for the nut.

  5. If the nut is stock, yes the larger guage strings will cut a large groove in the nut and if you use a lighter guage string later it will cause it to slip or bind.
