  1. ok ive decided to ditch the ampeg 8x10 and get a berg nv610 or an aggie gs412. what are the differences in tone?

the NV610 is a great cab, but i need tweeters, and the 412 is actually awesome for slap, tho i'm a dyed in the wool 10" speaker kinda guy. and while the 610 is warm and fat, the 412 is all the moreso. the 610 does feel much faster and tighter, but i need more high end extension, and the 412 just rocks me. again, its one of the few 12" loaded cabs i'd LOVE to own.

    Haven't tried the Berg.

Got rid of my Ampeg fridge for a GS412 a while back and couldn't be happier. Love it. :bassist:

I have a gs 412 and use to have a nv610. The 412 is a lot louder and has a stronger bottom end. The nv610 was all about punch and was tight. The low end just wasnt there for me with the 610. I like the highs better on the 610, to me the 412 is a touch shy in the top end and is a bit clicky. Both are great cabs though.

They are both great cabs; for a tube amp I'd go with the 610 because its sealed. The 412 is better for SS amps due to the ports. However, they both do sound great with either type of amp. I tried both with a Mesa 400+ and left with the 610. The low end actually surprised me when playing live; it was a lot bigger than expected and seems to present itself with more volume. The 412 has got tweeters; I am adding a Bergantino 210 to get some tweeters because I need em sometimes. The 610 is fat and warm, the 412 is not quite so but has got shimmering highs. You can't go wrong with either but you need to try and choose based on your ears.
