Ive been thinking of English Walnut, as one of my fave woods...... but that costs about £200 per cubic foot for premium quality stuff..... what about oak? cos its a really nice wood fairly strong and long lasting, but i dunno about the sound and stuff... what dyu guys think.

Do a quick search of check the latest few pages of the Luthier's board. There have been several posts in the past few weeks on this same topic. General consenus is it's an OK Neck wood but not very good body wood. Can sound Mushy and lack midrange.
