Hey guys!!!! Just a quick note.... My ideal situation would be cash for the bass, but, I wouldn't mind a trade that still nets me quite a bit of cash... For example, a $1500 bass and the rest cash would be awesome!!! *** Please PM me with any questions or offers. I have a lot going on health-wise, and I may miss it if you post in the thread. Thanks in advance for your consideration.*** Thanks for looking!!! Unfortunately due to some recently acquired doctor bills, and some other expenses, I am going to have to sell a bass I never thought would leave my hands. Up for sale is my MTD 535-21 Michael Tobias masterpiece. Bass is in what I consider very good shape. Buckeye Burl top, matching knobs, Wenge neck and fingerboard combo, and mahogany body. Bass is a piece of art. Only MTD I have ever owned, but I am so impressed by the amazing quality of this bass. Blown away really. So on the fence about it but really have no choice. Bass is in very good condition IMO. There are some small indentations here and there, to be expected. But nothing too bad at all. I tried to take pics of everything. The neck has some very small indentations on it, which I didn't even notice until taking the pics for this. Didn't even feel them when playing but you can barely feel them when rubbing your hand over the neck. Slight fret wear but plenty of life left on these frets for sure. My luthier, and a real good friend of mine, have also spent time playing this bass, and no complaints at all... They both LOVED the bass. I wanted to fully disclose everything I know about the bass as I would want someone to do for me. But I played it and it is hands down THE BEST BASS I have ever played. I have owned close to 100 instruments over the years, from expensive Warwick, to great Fender basses, and a heck of a lot in between. Bartolini pups and pre. Bass weighs exactly 10.1 pounds by using the scale at the post office. Just a huge sounding bass. Great tones, nice punch and clarity, and the best Low B I have ever played. That's saying a lot because my Warwicks I have owned (over 30), have had some amazing low end and clarity. Asking $3,700 OBO shipped, anywhere in the USA. Sorry no international shipping. Now, I really NEED to sell this bass, but, I also have 5 other basses I am selling. So, that being said, if there is any way I can keep this, I will. Also for sale locally. I know their will be trade offers, and I am fine with that. But please know, I would be super picky with any trade offer. I will entertain any offers, but here are some things I like: Warwick Basses G&L Basses Aguilar Amplification Gibson Les Paul Guitars What else ya got?? Again, please send all offers by PM. Thanks for looking and God Bless!!! Barry Enough talk for sure (apologies)... Here is some MTD porn:
Guys I forgot to say... I have the original MTD Hardshell case as well for it. Worn on the outside, good on the inside. I will get some pics up tmrw.
This is so beautiful! I can't keep from coming back again and again to look at it. It's crazy it's still here.

One super sweet bass here folks! not to mention a SUPER sweet brother to know AND transact with here on TalkBass! Godspeed with the sale! (GSWTS ) Blessings always!
@More or Les thanks for the offer but really looking for something to bring me a good chunk of cash as well. I am not sure what your bass would go for. Please PM me if there would be cash involved coming to me. Thanks!!!
I take extremely good care of my gear. I can play a bass at shows, several weekends a month for years, and they will still look new. I say this because I was able to borrow this MTD for a few shows. I returned it to Barry in the same condition as when I received it. I am not into 5 strings anymore, and I needed one for a sub job in a band that changed keys a lot. I would buy this bass if I could justify the expense. It has the best B I’ve ever played, and I’ve played many that are in the same caliber.
Thank u brother Steve!!! I can't believe it either. Somebody will eventually get an amazing bass I am sure.
Thank you JJ!!!! You know you are always welcome to anything I have brother. And yes, the Low B on this thing rivals, if not beats out, every single bass I have ever owned, even my Warwicks. Trust me, I have owned a TON of basses too lol...
Thanks and YES YOU HAVE!! In addition to 34” scale, it beats the 35” and 37” B string equipped basses I’ve owned. That says MORE than a lot. My next custom build will have a wenge neck and possibly similar body woods. I can only guess the woods have something to do with the magical B on this one.
