    Hi:

I've decided to bail on the Bart NTBT-918 two band
for my frankenstein godin bg-IV bass loaded with two
Fred Hammon Dark Star pickups, and have narrowed it
down to these two preamps (thanks David M Wilson for
    your excellent advice)

I have a small control cavity, and really don't want to
deal with the mass of wires the audere preamp has.
With three knobs, that means a two band, my
SansAmp Para Driver gives me plenty of sweepable mids.

So, it's all about the treble center (4K vs 6.5K). I already
have an OBP-1 in a bass and love it's tranparency.
While it would be nice to roll off treble for a reggae tune,
I play finger style and need to boost the treble a bit
    to get my sound.

I've read all the comments that a OBP-2 is just a OBP-3 with
the mid eliminated, which leaves a gap in the freq response.

So much for the literature, how many have the OBP-2 and
"boost" the treble a bit, and do you like the sound?

I could just throw in a OBP-1 and hope there is enough space
for the extra 9V battery, but I'd like to hear from some players,
I've heard the Noll preamp is also very good. Any others????

    Thanks!

I have the OBP-2 in one of my basses and I really like it. Alot of times, I like to alternate between fingerstyle and pick during a set/rehearsal and it's nice to be able to cut the treble when I pick up a pick.

I like to boost and cut very little. if I'm +/- 25%, that's alot and it sounds great with the Nord NJ4SE. I just put EMG J;s in the bass and it smokes with those pickups as well.

I hope to get one of your basses one day, but I have been following your posts and bass config's. I just put a BassAss III and Nord NJ4SE's in my 2001 Fender Am JBass and it is in a whole new league now. What a difference. Those Nordie's are amazing! Based on this I think I know what pre-amp to put in.

Nino you're help us in more ways than you realize.
