Today my band had practice and as always I check out the basses to see if there's anything new or interesting..and I saw this thing. Its a Fender Prophecy I guess. the pickups look like emg knock offs but the fender name on them..I was wondering if anyone on here has one or has seen these before...
A fabulous South Korean build (I would bet a lot it’s by Cortek) made during that wild and wacky period in the 90s that also bought us Heartfield. They’re decent basses.
I thought these Prophecy basses were Japanese and were built for Fender by Heartfield? I almost traded for one a while back but decided not to get it as it was too much like an Ibanez bass which I had plenty of at the time, I really wanted a Fender that well, sounded like a Fender bass and not a Fender Ibanez clone. In retrospect, I should have still traded for it - it's a well made bass from what I can remember. They do pop up every now and then though. I love some of these oddball Fender basses, had a JP90 made in the US, and currently have the MIM Fender Urge, the one in my user pic.
I remember the Prophecy bass well...local store carried them. I am not a Fender guy, so these were right up my Spector/Ibanez alley at the time...nice score!
ha ha well the singer owns a music shop, and I am about an hour away from Rockchester NY in a rural area so walking into house of guitars or guitar center isn't gonna happen very often..obviously I go window shopping online a fair bit, ya never know what might pop up..
HOG ain't what it used to be. There are some threads on here about that. Back in the day you could walk in and ask for anything you wanted and they'd have it in lefty, righty, any color, any year you want. Last year I went in and asked about a G&L bass and they didn't have a single one in the store!
My brother has a Heartfield bass he got dirt cheap. It’s a case queen now that i leave a couple basses at his place but It’s fun to play so i still break it out now and again.
Only have seen one in Augusta Georgia about 3 years ago - same color too. First time I had seen it. Played and sounded great! Cool find, always fun to discover something new.
I was in there, probably last fall, looking to try some combo amps. I rattled off 5-6 amps I might be interested in. The guy was like, “uh.... we have Fender Rumbles?” I woulda been better off going to GC!
I had a Heartfield 5-string I bought cheap to see about playing a 5'er. Pretty much a dog that I just couldn't get a good tone out of.
