That's an amazing piece of history, it really is. Even has the instructions. Feel free to take sideroads into cool Ampeg history stuff any time!

And someone that has a lot of Ampeg products is an Ampig. It’s a compliment.

So, if JIO has lots of those products, you've named him the Ampeg Ampig with the amp peg?

    (Complimentarily, of course.)

:) As the owner of (now) only two Ampeg products (however special), I must step aside from accepting any such 'accolades', not being worthy.

I'm unlikely to actually take it for a test ride, primarily because I don't own a double bass.., but I'm told it doesn't sound that good. Sort of like driving a Model T - it's a car, but aside from that, nothing to brag about aside from being the first mass-produced car.

Perhaps try it as a special effect, singing into it.

Here they use a telephone handset.

I have four vintage Ampeg’s, I consider myself an Ampig. It’s the other ones that make me an ampaholic.

I guess I’m an Ampig, since I have the following:
    ‘69 B-15n with JBL D140f.
    ‘69 SVT (6146) sits atop 810e from around ‘88-‘89.
    ‘72 V4b (for sale).
‘73-‘73 V4 which has been professionally converted to 6550’s including an additional transformer (for the filament power? Not sure exactly but I know it was necessary), and fan. Channel 2 modified to V4b specs. Sits atop a B40 cab loaded with Basslite SC10-16.
‘73 SVT with most all original pre-amp tubes and all original power tubes, which sits atop a good birch 810e cabinet from around 2006, with drivers out of a wrecked ‘99 810AV that was particle board.
‘73 B25B that I had the transformer replaced so it will run at 4ohm and my tech tells me is putting out just over 70watts before distortion. Sits atop a recently acquired 212AV and sounds great.
All of the above have been re-capped and are in perfect operating condition.
    Also an SVT5-Pro
    And an SVT-48HE 4x8 cab.
Sometimes I will put this SVT-48 atop the 212AV and run with the SVT5 in bi-amp mode for fun.

    Also a BA-210v2.

I sometimes get mad at myself when I think about how much money this obsession has made me spend. Between the amps I have and have had (and sold at a loss), and all the basses I have (23) and that have passed through my hands (also mostly all at a loss), I probably could have added a master bedroom/bath to my tiny 865 sq. ft. 2 bed 1 bath house.
I keep imagining I’ll be in 2-3 bands someday playing out a lot, but since I’m a hard rock player and in the SF Bay Area, I consider myself lucky I’m even I one band. Not to mention there’s not many venues that have hard rock original acts. Plus I’m probably considered an old guy now at 54, and that might matter to some kids out there looking for players. When I see an bass player wanted ad and they mention age range, I blow right past it.

I'm also in SF (Mission) - I felt very much like you for years but stuck with it and now am in a band that I pinch myself to assure it's real. Good people, fun to be around, and like me all dedicated to the cause as a rehearsing/gigging/recording quartette. No aspirations for fame or riches, but we all share a love of jointly creating something 'professional sounding' (for lack of a better term) whether it's original material or our reshaped version of a song. After many years of relative isolation, I feel very lucky and relish every moment we're together.

The Bay Area is changing post-Covid big-time and we won't know into what for a few years.

Never seen anyone use a phone handset when performing. They have a narrow bandwidth. Maybe good for harp.

It pays to experiment and try to be inventive. I like what they were able to pull off with the looper.

Great collection, it adds up over many years.

The Jet is such a cool amp and it sounds really nice. As you implied, there were different revisions varying the tube lineup.

Yeah, and I got the version with the hardest tubes to find! A friend has the 6V6 version and I’m jealous. I’d even prefer the 7591 version. With this one the 7868 isn’t even the worst to find, it’s the 6BK11.
