I know mine is one of the first couple years they made that bass. And I've played a number of newer models with the CAP pups in them. While I think they still capture that "ATK sound", there is something in the old ones that the newer ones can't capture. It's def feel too but the sound is just different. Not sure how to describe it. They both rock butts. But I love my old school ATK a lot for the more unique sounds and attack it gets. I will almost assuredly never sell that bass. It's the second bass I've ever bought and it's worth much more to me than it's actually worth.

  2. The original version pup is a three coil, with the center coil only serving as hum canceling (no output signal), so they are silent single coil when in either solo position, whereas mine has a pair of buckers. That would definitely make a difference to tone.

Here ya go. I haven't used it in a little while, it could use a full cleaning but here it is. When I pull it out and look at it I'm amazed that this was a stock finish on a $500 bass.

I did too. The bass looks great. Action seems to be nice and low. Hope it sounds good and is not too heavy!

Im a sit down player and dont really dig too heavy into the strings BassmanM, so action is reasonably low on all my basses.
This bass has awesome balance on the leg, and, at smack on 9lbs (4.1kg) its not a heavy weight anyway.
I have EB cobalt flats on at the moment but just purchased a set of Dunlop Stainless flats that I am preferring the feel of lately so might fit them in the next few days.
Sound (+ different available tones) is awesome as well. Sustain runs on forever.
    Dig'n it.

Anybody want to trade their pick guard for a white pearloid one? It's off my red ATK above. I just felt the bass looked better without it.

One of those clear ones would be cool.

The 90s ATKs have a "snappiness"...

I am of the belief that the "snappieness" came from the less polite preamps that they switched out for the tamer ones in the newer ATK's. My ATK300 is a 2007 and has that preamp. I don't think it was only the 90's.

The amount of clarity and high mid punch and cut that my ATK has is unrivaled by anything else I’ve ever played. I’ve never played a Wal or any really high end active basses though. I did however play a Modulus Flea bass years ago. That came very close.

  20. Were fretless 5 string ATK ever produced? I've seen one or two fretless 4 string but that's it
