  1. How do find the right cap for you?

I think im sharing this link correctly... just something I figured out for my Ammoon.

i think @spatters posted a link for me about different caps for different frequencies.
    Thanks!!

It wasn't me, but you're correct.
The "tone" circuit is a treble cut.
The tone capacitor changes the frequency that the treble cut starts at.

    Rule of thumb:
If you never use the tone knob because it makes your bass too dark, try a smaller cap.
If you don't think that the tone knob makes your bass dark enough, try a larger cap.

    So cal
I’ve been doing that for over 50 years. Probably around 1500 instruments. :help:

i'd have been lost without metronomes/drum machines for practice. i also played in several bands that were click-based, and of course, studios have run on clicks for years.

that's a good looking piece, eats!

  5. I've tested this and seemed to have confirmed that changing the cap does not effect the sound at the end of the pots travel. Is that correct? So, when the pot is full up the cap value has very little, if any effect.

  6. Aha!! It was you ( it bothered me so much I scrolled all the way back to May 1st to find who clued me in)
This was the link that set me in the right direction
The 'Tight' control - simple passive bass cut

So, my thanks go correctly to you Spatters:thumbsup:

Nor should it. If changing the cap affects the sound with the tone control full up, I'd try a larger value tone pot.

  10. OK, so this is interesting... I got an email from Caleb Berry at Sweetwater today. He says,

    "Hey Chuck,

I had just tried to give you a call at the number on your order, I’m so sorry about the delay in responding back to you. We are still waiting on the EQ and compressor pedals you had ordered, and we expect to have those back in stock within the next couple of weeks.

Again, I’m sorry about the radio silence, if there is anything I can do for you please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Caleb"

    So, there's that. o_O

  12. I’ve seen similar stuff on Etsy.
Could be a neat way to bling out a pick guard, or even a body if it conforms well.

    jawamac's fretless maple

    the neck:
    - re-locate side dots
    - apply headstock decal
    - poly/clear-coat where indicated
    - install tuning machines
    - edit: install string retainer! :D

day one: cosmetically cover-up the factory, mis-located side dots.
    - drill/dimple out the existing dots
    - apply 'maple-colored' latex paint
    - watch the paint dry
    - recoat paint if necessary (watch it dry)

    the original dots:

    mark them:

    drill/"dimple" them:

paint prep (i used tooth pics for this --- thought i could drop in enough paint and manipulate it better than the fine-tip brush i used on mine):
    20210609_132006.jpg

painted --- i dropped in enough to be a little proud of the fingerboard edge. now to watch it dry! :D

the paint job looks messy, but the excess will be sanded away. i hope i got enough paint to compensate for the latex shrinkage. (i had to do mine twice to have enough excess to sand even.)

:hyper::hyper::drool::). Looks awesome, @JRA. Don't forget string retainer on neck too or does that come after strings are on-lol. I have a feeling this thing is gonna be a beast of a player!

:D i just made an edit!

yeah, it's gonna play, i'm sure of that --- might even look real cool, too! i'll bet it won't break 7 lbs., or not by much.

i'll probably use rubber bands to locate the string retainer, but i've got tons of loose strings here, too.
