My main bass is an MIJ '84 Squier. But I just picked up a new Japanese Fender: a 2004 PB-62B!
Hello! Finally could join this club after purchase this beauty. MIJ, 70' RI. Finally got some cash to buy my dream bass, which is P Bass. MIA is out of my league. Between this and MIM std, the neck made me choose this. And, can I get number?
Here is my 2002 CIJ PB 62-70.
It had the original "USA Vintage" pickup as described in the 2002 Fender Japan Catalog.
The electronics were the cheaper stock japan variety.
I upgraded the electronics with:
CTS volume control, 250k value, audio taper
CTS tone control, 250k value, linear taper
Sprague “Orange Drop” poly capacitor, .047mfd value
Switchcraft mono input jack
vintage style, cloth covered wire
I upgraded the pickups with Fender's Pure Vintage 63 pickups.
I've had more expensive Fender P's than this one, but I can honestly say this is the best playing one I've had (super resonant, no dead spots etc).
Awesome bass. I have the 70's ash/maple version. The necks are so awesome. Not as wide as a traditional P, but still fairly thick from front to back.
Are there any MIJ P/Js? I have been on the hunt for a passive P/J
Most Aerodyne Jazz have P/J.
Aerodyne Precision or Jazz...
Sadly I must turn in my number to this club> I sold my last Fender MIJ yesterday.
Here we go. Another club for me
