I've had my UD for a few months now and loving it. May take on the project of stripping it down to bare metal in a couple of weeks, but for now:

Excuse the makeshift pedal board, but it will have to do until I get back home and can build a proper one :)

    Man, it was super easy.
Medium grit 3M sandpad + elbow grease + 20 minutes = cooler looking pedal.

Yeah, seeing how good they look bare, and reading how easy everyone has said it is, I don't see a reason not to.

I asked a question that got buried at the end of the last thread....could someone describe the sonic difference between the UD and the American Sound? After listening to the recorded samples, they sound VERY similar. How about some real-world comparisons? Thanks!

Hi, I have both and I can say there's is a big difference between those pedals. The American is a tone shaper, with it you can get a fenderish sound out of your board, it really recreates that warm deep sound, and you can add some dirt with the overdrive. The Ultimate is a great overdrive, not a tone shaper, so they're meant for different uses. I usually use them together, The AS first to shape my sound and then the UD to add some dirt to it.

    Regards,

My Ultimate Drive came today. WOW! With the drive set at 0830, the edge I wanted is THERE! The difference is much more noticeable than with the BBE Sonic Stomp, and still just as pleasing! I am going to put the UD in the chain for tomorrow and take the Sonic Stomp out. I can sell the BBE off and get another JOYO or two! Though the Dyna Compressor and the UD seem to provide all the tone modification/ enhancement that I need.
