Ya got me going on the idea...

So I ordered a nano-sized board, and I'm gonna put my tuner, FEA compressor, and the Broughton LPF/HPF* on it. Specs say the total current draw is about 100 mA, so it should be good.

*Just for the LPF in it, to tame the top end. Had it stashed in my closet.

Yeup, Im powering this no problem, 'I think', via the USB and a Birdcord cable. The messenger needs a power supply rated for 250mA.. All seems to work fine with all on except the tuner. This goes to FOH btw, using through out from the Messenger to the WD800. I use the WD800 for stage sound.

I've been putting my board on top of the amp for awhile now. My board is about the size of the D800+. Powering has been a pita because i hate running cables, and this is pretty cool.

Roger that. I was figuring to put it on top of the WD-800, likewise. Have to see how it fits, when I get it here--but at worst (if the feet don't fit well around the corners of the amp), I'll cut the feet off and put tabs of weatherstripping on the frame of the board, so it'll sit nice on the amp.

Got to really wind the Mesa rig up tonight, big room, big PA. It never said no! Stayed nice and fat and clear. I like the 212 cab a lot! B19B504E-9122-4B3C-AA61-D56FB6926509.

I've noticed that I now have much more of a usable range using the HPF on my WD since I got thew Subway 1x15. The sound remains punchy and full even at high HPF settings.
My old cab didn't do that :D

Thanks to everyone who recommended the 115 as a standalone cab! :)

Correct, when you ad low frequency extension with speakers, you will find that this will skew the effectiveness of the HPF.

Anyone missing a little height with their Mesa stack? I usually play small bars and I’m standing right by my rig. I went from two vertically stacked Markbass 2x10s to the Mesa Subway 1x15 and 2x10. If I can get about 5-6 feet in front of it it’s good but front porting plus tiny cabs equals hard to hear, at least for me.

I wish there was a kickback model!

Yea, it’s been discussed and an issue with just about any low profile box that you have to stand right in front of on small/tight stages. Find something to get it up off the floor a bit, a road case, stand, etc, makes a big difference.

Tilting back a bit also helps when you have to be right on top of the rig.

This works great as well. Any advice or recommended method to keep the head secured to the cabinet while its tilted back? I wouldn't want to modify anything...maybe a simple grippy/rubber type mat as others have suggested for vibration related movement?

I used to hang the feet over the front edge of the cab.
I also use a piece of the foam mesh drawer liner from the kitchen section of Target, Walmart etc.
    Many solutions to tilt elevate.
Rack lid, wedge, footstool, Worx Sidekick table.
I made a rigid foam wedge and covered it with gaffers tape.
I'm 6'3 and play tight stages.

There are lots of clever ways to accomplish this.

Seymour basslines under sealed cover in neck position. (Stock mm style bridge under closed cover)
Hipshot kick-ass saddles in place of the Omega saddles.
Added pearl top knobs, filed the nut, gave it a fret dress.
    35" scale
    19mm spacing
    strung with EB Cobalt flats.
Plays like dream. Growls like a bear
Shares a lot of DNA with Lakeland Skyline (same plant)

I was thinking the same thing. I mean, it's no Sparkle, but it's still purty!

Who's got the cheapest prices on new Mesa amps? Anyone beating Sweetwater?

I'm in the market for a WD-800... would certainly consider a used unit in great shape for the right price... but the more I look, the more it looks like I'm going to be buying new.

    Thanks for the advice, folks.

I saw one yesterday at Haight Ashbury Music Center in San Francisco. They're closing and having a sale to clear everything out. I didn't investigate, so it may have been a floor model or B-stock or something. But it was listed at a little over $100 off the usual price. Might be worth giving them a call.
