Official Moroccan Winter Olympics Thread

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by Alex, Feb 21, 2006.

  1. I had to do it :D

To make this a constructive thread, let's name every country that does not have any representatives at the winter Olympics.

    I'll start off:

    uh - Morocco
    Zimbabwe
    Egypt
    Somalia
    Sudan
    Niger
    South Africa
    Lesotho
    Chad
    Algeria

    Argentina (I think)
    Uruguay
    Paraguay
    Chile
    Peru
    Colombia

    Guatemala
    Mexico

    The Phillipines
    India
    North Korea
    Guam?

    Iraq
    Iran
    Jordan
    Yemen
    Saudi Arabia
    Israel :smug:

That's all that I can think of right now.

  2. North Korea has, in fact, 6 athletes this year, in the combined team with South Korea.

An you forgot Djibouti, Andorra, Swaziland, Algeria, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Zaire......

There are what, 192 countries in the world? And only 80 represented at the Winter Olympics this year?

    Rock on
    Eric

  3. I didn't know that the Korean team was combined.

I had Lesotho on my list :spit: :D

  4. Don't know why I didn't see that. I've since changed it to Djibouti.

    Rock on
    Eric

I think there were a few participants from South Africa, along with a few from Senegal, Algeria, and Kenya. That leaves about 4 dozen African countries without representatives.

I don't think Moshweshwe would have cared too much about Lesotho winning gold medals in the 2006 winter olympics.

  7. What events? You are probably thinking about summer olympics.

If I remember correctly, Morocco had a downhill skier not too long ago. It may have been the same Olympics that Eddie "the Eagle" made his debut. As memory serves me, it took this person quite a while to get through falling off the mountain. More a Special Olympics moment.
