what was wrong with it?
Reverb has a few between 13-$1500. Used "musicman caprice"
I also had to take my Cutlass to a luthier to work on the nut. The slots needed to be lowered on mine.
yeah I'm feeling like mine are a little high too.
It made a huge difference on the playability. It already played nice but now, it’s fantastic!
I think I posted before, but I had Mike Lull look at my Caprice, and the first thing he said was that the nut was too high. He lowered it, and it definitely made a difference. Then I got him to Plek it and it's even better.
Newest addition to the MM family... Ordered a Tort PG, thought it would look great with either...
Very nice !! Welcome to the wonderful world of MusicMan passive bass.
This is a terrible picture of the tort guard on mine. I have been meaning to take a decent shot but haven’t had time.
I love my Cutlass. It’s simple, expressive, powerful and sounds great in every amp I’ve tried. Hope you enjoy yours.
Edit: I realize yours is a Caprice. Same color scheme though and a great ax!
Looking forward to seeing a more detailed pic . Looks like some nice rosewood on that Cutlass.
Just had to look at the e slot. Had put on med gauge strings and the E wasn’t sitting all the way down. This thing is snarly!
I didn't have files but I ended up taking some drill bits in hand and filing my slots down a little bit. Much better, though I think I'll hold off on going any lower.
Your black Cutlass and your new white Stingray5 Special are going to look great side by side. Nice contrast.
I spent a good hour enjoying my Caprice today. I get so many more useable tones out of it than I would a passive Jazz or straight Pbass. I used to think the secret sauce was on the p pickup . But that bridge pickup really spices things up thanks to the full range tone knob.
Thanks I think so too!
Agreed. Glad you’re keeping her!
Well, I'll be bowing out of yet another club I started lol The Caprice is a lovely bass, but I think my tastes are changing a little. I played a Rickenbacker the other day and the added fullness and aggressiveness if I want it is something that I'm missing. So, the Rickenbacker below is on its way via a TB'er once it gets shipped out Monday.
I'll be posting mine for sale, but if anyone is interested, mine is sunburst/rosewood, mint condition, just over a year old. The tuners are upgraded to Hipshot. I'll post it for $1250, but since I want to clear at least $1100 on it, I'll let any member of the club or anyone thinking of joining have it for $1175 I won't list it until the Rick shows up since I need a box, but if anyone here wants it, I can hold it and I won't list it.
Does that mean I move up to the number 1 spot?
Since I stopped giving out numbers, sure why not lol
To quote Carol Burnett....” I’m so glad we had this time together “. Thanks for starting the club. You’ll be missed. Enjoy your Ric. I hope you don’t miss your Caprice too much .
