With who you have, I'd have to go with Flea.

I chose Flea too. The stuff he did on the new Mars Volta album was cool IMO.

Stanley Clarke -- he's got the most groove of any of 'em, and killer chops when he uses them. Really no question for me!

I choose Victor Wooten. His chops kill all the rest of the guys chops up there.

I agree with the rest of the guys that the Mars Volta album was cool, but Victor Wooten had TWO awesome albums this year: Little Worlds and Live in America!

Remember, this isn't a best bassist of all time thread, this is just for what the artist has done this year.

P.S. If Flea wins, I'll delete the thread and deny its existence. Actually, I don't think I will because I'm a fair guy; yet, as much as Flea is awesome, I really don't think he deserves it this year.

Cool, your vote is discounted by order of the threadstarter. But I'll let you have your voice (I'm keeping an independant poll on my computer so I can compare the write-ins with the nominees). Your vote goes to Stanley Clarke. How wonderfully dictorial is that!

You could have done a write-in. I listed Claypool under "write-ins to consider", along with John Pattituci and Trip Wamsley.

Would you like your vote changed?

Wooten for this work with Flecktones. I once heard Victor say that his main concern is to make the music groove. At first I thought it was bull****, just because he's mostly known for overplaying and all that. But his non solo stuff is awesome. And it made me appreciate his solos more. :bassist: Vic deserves all the respect he gets, IMO. :bassist:
