I just finished playing a weekend at (probably) the best casino in the area - and what a memorable gig it'll be. Not just for how the gig went (really good, but for the fact one of our vocalists/guitarists got kicked out for "musical differences".

It all stems from that vocalist making "undue advance" towards another band member (female vocalist) and another band member (not romantically involved with) getting rather pissed off by it.

    Oh what a night......

Hmmm. My name is also Nate and I used to live in Bremerton. Weird.

It's probably not that strange to you, but there aren't many people from WA in my neck of the woods.

Yep, Neptoon - it is Les Shelton's old band (I used to play with the old drummer in a country band, and I played with the old guitarist in a blues band, so it pretty much was a "it's not what you know, but who you know" situation.

To make things MORE bizarre, we have to do a benefit with the old guitarist who was just kicked out - yeah, that's a bright idea...let's kick a guy out, and then play a benefit with him for FREE, where he will have a live mic and a loud P.A. where he can say whatever he wants......boy, we got a bunch of rocket scientists here.

Hey Natebass, I live in Poulsbo and I play in a band called Four Plus. Neptoon,I got a last minute gig at the place that used to be Cheers called South Pacific on Friday night. Kind of a different place, a combination sports bar, dance club. There was a DJ there that played during ours breaks. I walked in front of one of his speakers on my way to get a diet coke and it was so loud I actually got dizzy. It seemed like a rap and electronic music crowd to me so I'm not sure if it is the right venue for our band and you have to haul all of your equipmment up a big flight of steps. Did you play at the Clearwater Casino? I've played there and I like it alot, good money, close to home, house PA and free food. What more could a gigging bassist possibly want?

    Beat this!
Keyboard player gets married two years ago. The drummer was his best man. The drummer and his wife have had marriage problems the past year. It was known they were getting divorced, but they still lived together. The keyboard player has his second child, then the next week he tells the drummer (his best man) that he is in love with HIS wife, and as soon as he moves out, he's moving in! Did I mention she's mid 40's and he's 23..... Another band shot to hell!!

Actually, my favorite place to play is a tie - I like the Muckleshoot for the backstage and stage area - but I love 7 Cedars (up by Sequim) for the perks; free dinner, they actually LISTEN to you (not slam how loud you play, but how you sound) and generally treat you like an honored guest!!!

I agree about the 7 Cedars Casino, they have always treated us very well whenever we have played there, they also put you up in a hotel and feed you. The Clearwater is close to home so that is always cool but I don't like the way we have been treated there ie. too loud, not enough dancing tunes etc etc. Their always seems to be a complaint no matter how well we play. I also like the Emerald Queen, I did three months of Sunday evenings for their jazz night and enjoyed that alot. I hav'nt gigged at the Muckleshoot yet but I hope to.

my understanding from talking to Tommy (ex-soundman but fellow bassist) is that the booking agent for entertainment at the Clearwater doesn't like live music, she wants dj's - also I've heard because of who she's related to, they can't really fire her so who knows????

keep in mind I'm also in civil service as well - I've got my DoD card (and PSNS badge to boot)...wouldn't be too much of a problem with me - also, according to my boss, I might end up going TDY there for some unknown reason......

    Hey Steve,what up?
I like the idea of a "Western Washington Bass Summit", particularly for TB members. If anyone sets it up I'm there. I start another month of Sunday evening jazz nights at the Emerald Queen in March,I think it will be a good gig. Our guitar player can't do the gigs so I have free reign to ad lib on his parts.
