    hi
I noticed my new 4 x 12' cab hasn't got a tweeter!!! is it so necessary? I used it this evening and I noticed it couldn't do any metallic and high-trebley sounds but I am looking for a warm tone so I didn't care much... the problem is.... will my cab play all the frequencies of my 4 string bass???

    HI,
What brand and model of cab is that?

a cab without a tweeter will not play the super high stuff. If you want a nice round warm tone, then you have a good cab. So, what kind is it?

  4. The tweeter in my 4x10 is nice, but it isn't essential. I've turned it off because it sounds a little too clicky with my setup(Spector, Hi-Beams).

  5. Tweeters? We don't need no stinking tweeters!

That's my opinion. You probably sound better in the mix without the tweeter, even though it might sound a little duller than usual when playing by yourself. That just means you'll have a fatter sound in the mix!:D

If it turns out you need one, you can add it later. It's not a big job and TBers can help you.

Hah! Brendan, that's what I was wondering myself in his first post when he said 4x12. (Of course there ARE 4x12 bass cabs, but not alot.)

FWIW, I don't mind tweeters on cabs, as long as they're able to be turned OFF. :D

  13. i couldn´t agree more!

    and by the way...
i have a 4x12 basscab and it´s a marshall and it sounds nice
