Walnut over a mahogany body. Cocobolo finger board over a mahogany neck.

    That's cruel.

What is it, who makes it, and where can I (or can't I) get one? I think I'm gonna drill a hole in my keyboard so the drool can run out.

Rob Allen makes them, Jimmy Coppola at NY Guitar and Bass Boutique usually has a couple on hand...

Check out his site when you get a chance: http://www.guitarboutique.com

They're nice, but they pop up secondhand a lot.

    Buy used.

BP credited these basses with having a very double bass like tone.

Which they don't really. If you play them without any modification to technique, they just sound like a fretless BG. If you modify your technique, you can get it to sound double-bassy, but you can do that with a normal fretless too and some flatwounds.

Just think of them as fretlesses with a really clean look.

Man, both of those are beauties, but the quilted maple one really makes my GAS level rise.
